Personal bankruptcy

In the case of personal bankruptcy the debtor’s assets are sold and the proceeds are divided between the creditors.

Personal bankruptcy is publicised and costs between CHF 3,000 and CHF 4,000 for an individual and CHF 6,000 to CHF 8,000 for a married couple. However, personal bankruptcy does not mean that your debts simply vanish. We therefore recommend that you check with your debt counselling centre whether personal bankruptcy would make sense in your case.
