Living at subsistence level

If you are living at subsistence level, we advise the following:

- Inform your creditors of the situation. Try to persuade them that further debt collection would have little point at this time.

- Always pay your rent, medical costs and food bills first. Otherwise you run the risk of painful consequences and a great deal of unpleasantness on a number of fronts. It is possible that you might lose your apartment or a doctor may refuse to treat you.

- Find out about possible ways of saving and other forms of benefits (for example a reduction in your health insurance premiums) from your budget advisor or social security counselling centre.

- Submit your tax return on time. In this way you can avoid fines, high tax assessments, unnecessary debts and delays and/or losses in the reduction in your health insurance premiums.
